Continued decrease in new orders for the Swedish industries

New orders for Swedish industry decreased by 0.7 percent in seasonally adjusted figures in July compared to June. When comparing July of this year and the same month of the previous year, new orders decreased by 5.4 percent in working day adjusted figures.

According to official data from statistic Sweden, the industrial sector's sub-sectors showed a mixed development in July compared to June. The electrical equipment industry and the industry for other transport equipment developed weakest. During the last three-month period (May-July) new orders in total increased by 3.6 percent compared to the previous three-month period.
New orders from the domestic market decreased by 4.4 percent in July compared to June. During the last three-month period new orders increased by 1.1 percent compared to the previous three-month period.

New orders from the export market increased by 1.8 percent in July compared to June. During the last three-month period new orders increased by 5.5 percent compared to the previous three-month period.

On an annual basis new orders in total continued to decrease. In July new orders decreased by 5.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The corresponding comparison in the domestic market results in a decrease of 3.9 percent and in the export market a decrease of 6.3 percent.

The figures for July are preliminary. Since the previous publication the change in new orders in June compared to May has been revised downwards by 0.2 percentage points to a decrease of 0.4 percent. The change in new orders between June of this year and the same month of the previous year has been revised upwards by 1.0 percentage point to a decrease of 0.9 percent.
