Record number of Danes working from home

Sunday, 16 September 2012
More than one in four Danes work from home at least once a month. This is the highest level in five years, according to Statistics Authority, Statistics Denmark.

Several studies show that workers are working far more effective at home than at work, writes the Danish newspaper Politiken.
"Many feel they can immerse themselves in the larger tasks without any distractions available in the workplace, such as ringing phones, meetings and talkative colleagues," says Birgitte Meisner Nielsen, acting for the working manager at Dansk Erhverv employers' organization, to the newspaper.

In most of the cases, it is men who work from home, but the number for both men and women have risen in recent years. In 2007, 22.5 percent of the opportunity used to work from home. So far this year, 26.5 percent of the Danish working population worked from home. If the numbers is maintained for the are the rest of the year, it will be a new record.
