Sweden flops print design and size of South African bills – as million worth must be destroyed

South Africa's central bank has to destroy more than 3.6 million faulty 100-rand banknote, worth almost Skr320 million.
According to reports in Swedish media quoting, reports from the British Sunday Times the banknotes are printed in Sweden at the Tumba Paper Mill.

It appears that the notes have the same serial number as locally printed banknotes. Also, some of the notes printed in Sweden had neither the right color nor size. The notes are about an inch too small, which causes problems in the cash machines.

South Africa this year changes the look at all its notes, which will carry Nelson Mandela's portrait, the first president after apartheid. The back of 100-rands notes is adorned with a buffalo.
