Swedish house prices fall?

Tuesday, 23 October 2012
Swedish real estate analysts feel that Swedish house prices might fall in the coming months.
State owned mortgage broker, SBAB expects a smaller decline in prices for homes in the fourth quarter. Housing market in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö have deteriorated, according to a latest report released by SBAB boprisbarometer (house price prediction).
For condominiums, 21 percent of brokers expect fall in prices, while 17 percent expect prices to increase. For single-family homes, it is believed by 24 percent that prices will continue downward, while 12 percent believe in rising prices. However, differences are large between the regions in a survey in which 221 real estate agents in metropolitan regions responded to a survey.

Swedish house price movement is a very important aspect within the movement in the economy because even in the years when the recession was hitting Europe, Sweden's major trading bloc, house prices in Sweden continued to grow very fast. It has been said repeatedly that Swedish houses are over valued thus pushing buyer to pay more for their houses. Thus if the price falls below a certain level, then it will be worrying especially for the value of those houses that were bought so costly.
