Danish prime minister: Homosexuals can get married in Churches this summer
Tuesday, 13 March 2012
The Danish Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt has made it clear
that gays and lesbians may soon marry both in the town hall and church
in Denmark.
Therefore, for the Danish Premier, in her weekly news conference, she
said that it was okay for homosexuals to act just as normal ordinary
traditional couples, which usually is a man and woman.
“Already this summer we will see the first gay and lesbians getting
married in the Danish state church,” said the prime minister. This is
because the government is ready with a bill which will come into effect
in June.
“It is an important step for a society that recognizes individual
differences and individual equality, regardless of who you are and no
matter who you love,” said Thorning.
She called the bill a completely natural and right step in a modern Denmark.
It will be up to the individual priest to decide whether they will
marry homosexuals in the churches or not,” said the prime minister.
