Swedish ruling moderate party wants to revive themselves from policy fatigue

After being in power for about 6 years and with a weaker opposition in the past, the conservative Moderate party of Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt has shown that it was beginning to suffer from policy fatigue.

With the arrival, finally of a revived Social Democrats that is looking more progressive, the Conservatives want to appoint five working groups to renew their policies before the election 2014.

The party don’t want to be nostalgic, retrospective but to keep their curiosity. This was stated by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt in a news latter to the Swedish daily, Dagens Nyheter on Tuesday.

The working groups will develop policies in the priority areas of the economy - education, health, crime among others.
Although the government's reforms were important and necessary, and Sweden is strong in a troubled world we are still grappling with serious challenges, according to the Prime Minister.

"This applies, among other things, to a growing mental health problems and difficulties for the young and foreign-born persons to enter the Swedish labour market, "he writes.
Here he means that despite the need for increase labour, the job market is so imbedded with discrimination that certain sectors of the society see getting a job as a privilege and not a right.

All ideas and suggestions to be considered in a clear and reasoned description of the problem, impact on public finances, employment, distribution, and feasibility.

The Working Groups findings and proposals should be ready to the Moderate party conference next fall and then be the basis for the policies that Conservatives want to bring along with the other Alliance parties prior to the elections 2014.

The prime minister wants the Conservatives to talk to at least 900,000 people across the country and right up to Election Day.
