The Swedish Tax authority to be investigated in relation to double penalty prevalent in the Swedish system

The Swedish
government in an attempt to dodge threats of sanctions from the
European Union wants to start investigating how to adjust its habitual
decision where people are penalised so heavily if the fail a tax rule.
This has to do
with a study which showed that the Swedish tax authority heap too heavy
a penalty on people convicted on tax crimes. Such people are usually
penalised twice and this has caught the attention of the European Union
which as intern calls on Sweden to redress the situation.
The
investigator may, would among others have the task of analyzing the
Swedish tax procedure with regard to the European Convention, which
prohibits so-called twofold tax penalisation – where someone be
punished twice for the same offense.
EU court is currently investigating whether the Swedish system violates the Convention.
